Sorry about coming in so late on this but I've been out of town for a few 
days.

One thing not mentioned and an opinion I hold is that when people are JUST 
told of a spot without visiting it, they often don't develop any 
discrimination for particular vulnerabilities it might have. This can lead to 
indiscriminate broadcast of a location on their part down the road as well as 
a perpetual increase in the hype of how good the fishing might be (since they 
haven't really been there to confirm the verbal information they got in the 
first place). In short we tend to care less about places, things and people 
we have no personal connection with.

This is why I sometimes take the stance with places I think are extra fragile 
to tell folks "I'll take you there but I won't just tell you about it;" and 
all I would ask is they take the same stance. I might add that (so far) 
people agree with the policy once they have experienced the location.
