I had that problem, too.
I think it is enough if you reasearch a heavy body (Python?).
HP bar disappears when all guns are firing. Some of the
vehicles look a bit too funny, and the droid names are not quite
right. I got some crashes, but they might be unrelated.
Has this been discussed somewhere? What about game balance?
This will probably take some time to tweak, we need to specify more limits
for this, ie what turret classes can be mixed together
(AA/direct/arty/commander/repair/sensor etc), what bodies can have more than
1 weapon - I think letting light bodies have more than 1 weapon doesn't
really make sense (size issue) or at least limit secondary weapon to T1
weapons as most T2/T3 weapons would overlap in the game.

reason for the player not to add as many weapons as possible?
You mean unrestricted number of weapon on a body or max weapon number for
each body? I think this is not a good idea in any case, as there's actually
only one body - Dragon - that doesn't look funny with any weapon
combination. Other ones are simply way too tiny.
Won't
this mean that rock-paper-scissors disappears for large vehicles, as
they can attack anything really well?
Yes game balance is very probably down the drain... :(
We need to fix/limit this for 2.1... Especially the multiple different
turrets
caused me a headache, too.
