Sounds like a hardware failure. How old is that system?
http://www.overclockers.com/tips00140/ might describe your failure if
it's several years old. Or, maybe your power supply was marginal to
start with and has deteriorated. Overheating also could be a cause. Is
your system full of accumulated dust, making the fans and heat sinks
inadequate? Memtest86 can find bad RAM, which easily could be your
problem. You can find it many places, but this one is particularly
handy: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Hi Felix,
The computer is not quite 2 years old. I would think if it were a hardware
failure that this would be happening not only when I open a browser but at
other times as well, no? I will try to check out the links you gave me,
provided I can get a browser to cooperate and not crash on me. I have no
problem w/anything else other than the opening and/or use of a browser -
that's when it goes into reboot mode. Maybe your links will provide info
that tells me otherwise. Thank you, Felix.
