I really like this concept of using database driven sites. I haven't done
one myself yet, but our company just purchased the resell rights to a
product called Site Driver. It uses a Lotus Notes database to insert
content. The Domino server has been ordered and I'm looking forward to
learning how to use the program. Full installation runs about 30 grand so I
thought what better time to come up with a similar (aka, cheaper but
challanging) PERL script. I was thinking of a browser interface with
optional Access data entry form to build the database. The database itself
needs to hold a run date, an expiration date, the content itself and a
referer/ID to write the content field to the correct page. That's about it.
An admin interface (again Access or browser) to purge expired entries
should be included. A macro in Access could probably handle both the purge
and conversion.
Any comments (guidance, handholding, etc) are appreciated. (I only have 3
weeks off from school)
