Yes, what a find indeed! We're still dancing around the house saying, "$5!"
We did actually try to tell them they could probably get more out of it, even
when we thought it was only a 286, but she insisted she wanted it "out of
here."
This morning we downloaded some video drivers from the Trident page and we
have 16 million colors!!! The modem can't be more than a 14.4 as slow as it
is, but we did speed things up a lot by making the memory swap file for Win
3.1 larger than 0. Now to see if that tape drive works, and to find some
memory that will fit in it without spending a week's salary.
Relearning Windows 3.1 is kind of like learning to read again. It's good for
me, though, as I just happen to have a customer who needs support for 3.1.
It was a business we bought the computer from. A natural gas company.
