I've run all kinds of non Microsoft products on NT servers: WebBoard, Netscape
Enterprise Server, MetaInfo DNS, Sendmail, CorelDraw, etc, etc.

Agreed.

hehehe you've been talking to my partner right? I would love to have another
operating system that allowed me to run all of the off-the-shelf software that I
run. Hopefully some unix flavor will get there someday. Every year they get a
little closer, but the fact is, all those desktops are still running WIN##.

For me the decision depends on the application. If someone tells me, "I've got
a few thousand items I want in a database on the web", I'm going to put them
into Access on NT because they'll have Access on their desktop and it makes a
nice package. If someone says, "I want to be the next Ticketmaster" I'm going
to put them on Solaris with Oracle or Sybase.
