That sounds about right. Only made it to one DC area meeting (there are
three different LUGs here), but format is the same. Northern VA group
is much bigger, though--they outgrew a 200 seat room this month
(probably the MCI, NSI, Gov't tech crowd in that area). They separate
out the installfests from the meetings, and every so often get a huge
room and install for anyone that needs help in one long Saturday.
replaced the install sessions with lectures, and started pitching in to
fly in the developers from GNOME and related projects to help involve
people in coding. They actively do the Borders Books circuit as well,
doing wednesday night lectures and Linux demos to consumers while
they're standing next to a RedHat display ;)
Excellent resource for anyone diving in headfirst if you can find a
group in your area.
