I understand what you are saying. I actually don't see too much of
the Clinton thing on other lists I am subscribed to, and when 
discussion starts it is usually squelched right away. I expected 
it to die here quickly, and I'm sure it will eventually. But this
list is different from any other I've ever experienced. Its almost
familial, what with the friendly talk about motorcycle purchases,
psychic predictions, and...

...list members health. :)  Designers always talk about Web sites
with a sense of "community". If there ever was a question about
attaining such a feeling via email alone, this list is proof
positive.

S/N ratio is still high, and like you said, the debate has been very
civilized and interesting. If it has to happen, I guess this is the
right environment. I'm sure we'll move on to better things soon.
