Probably not...

Not so much ruled by men as by laws and respect for, what was that
phrase in that old document, "all men are created equal...". They forgot
women, but we did amend some of that in XIX; though they didn't say
equal... a slight oversight. But they probably would screw that up if
they had. Can you imagine some of the male interns complaining because
they didn't get their turn?
(Sorry... I believe in equal opportunity for equal qualifications,
not reasons of quota.)
I can not understand the polls. I think they are either being cooked
in a nuclear reactor past melt-down, or the poll taker is a police officer
and people are being asked to identify themselves via social security
number and driver's license.
This man's primary job is to represent us to the world via his
presence, his ability to appoint ambassadors, make treaties, and fill
various vacancies within the government. Congress does the law making. All
he can do, is to cheer us on, and to approve or disapprove Congress's
actions within limits. It is not a direct strong role, has little to do
with overall economics that Congress regulates via budget and law, etc. I
don't see what there is to approve of when it comes to this economy.
Makes me think I need to find a bunch of copies of the Constitution
on the web, do some analysis of the keywords, and make sure these have
high ranks in the search engines for popular keywords... Because
Americans don't seem to know what the President's job is, how to evaluate
him, or what America stood for in her early years, when Kings did whatever
they pleased with young girls and boys. And the rest of society too!
(Hmmm... Fry's Electronics gets higher ratings than The
Constitution, elections, liberty, statue of liberty, and the Declaration
of Independence on web query stats. Independent Counsel gets as many
queries as the Declaration of Independence. Does not look good...)
America has to stand for something! And if she does not have a
decent man at the helm... others will just say, "but the prez, he did it,
So why can't I...?"
What's that plaque on the old lady say, "Give me your huddled masses
yearning to be free..." What were they yearning to be free from? I know
my parents sought freedom from oppression, from dishonest appointed
officials who screwed everyone they could screw in every manner they could
screw them. They were not poor. Their journey, as the journeys of many
others, cost them everything they owned, and nearly their lives. All to
be able to see that Lady in the harbor, that Goddess of Democracy. Many
of their friends didn't make it...
What does that have to do with the president? What is he supposed to
represent? Is is not those ideals to the world? Kind of the way Truman
did with the Marshal plan and the Berlin Airlift. Kind of the way American
soldiers represented America with their honor in the war. Civilians
didn't fear Americans the way they feared the soldiers of other nations,
for they knew others raped and pillaged, knew it well!
I guess it was that Americans knew the difference between moral right
and wrong. And were willing to put their lives on the line for it, not
just for the sake of their own families; but for the sake of complete
strangers all across Europe, and much of Asia.
Do we? Do we still know right from wrong?
Do we still care?
Or shall we side with those who believe women (and guys,) are just
trophies, honor is just a word, and democracy means getting as much
influence money as you can?
