Not *every* problem: but Unix/Linux is clearly the superior solution
to problems involving Internet mail/web/news/ftp/telnet/etc. servers,
because it's where that technology was either invented or refined.
To choose any other platform is to incur a major handicap at the outset.
Maybe some day that will change; for instance, maybe Inferno will
mature into something that supplant it. But in the meantime...
BTW, you'd be amazed at how often I recommend Macs to end users, especially
people who work in the creative business (graphics/art/writing/etc.)
because they have the tools, they're easy to use, and they *work*.
