No, I'm not getting into the spam business :>)
I have a client who wants to set up the following:
- through a web page, site visitors can automatically add their email
address to a database running on the web server.
- the database list of email addresses will be used to send an email
broadcast to the list which will alert them to new features on the client's
web site, announcements, etc.
- there will have to be a web-based administrative interface so that I can
add to, delete, or modify any of the email addresses in the database.
- by sending an email message to a certain address, it will automatically
go to everyone in the database. I will use this address to send the email
broadcast, maybe once every month or two
- another special email address could be used by anyone subscribed to the
broadcast list to unsubscribe them.
NOTE: this is not a mailing list like web-consultants. I want to have
people "sign up" but only I can send a broadcast to those on the list, not
the other way around.
What is involved in creating this? I'm not a programmer, I just want an
easy-to-manage mailing list function, instead of manually maintaining the
address list on my local system.

However, my client is, well, "budget conscious". If this costs more than
several hundred dollars I doubt he will do it. And my guess is that the
cost is more than that. But I'm only guessing. Thanks!
