Ann, your comments are right on. I've built a number of sites for clients I
have never met F2F. They may be 1,000 miles away, or on the other side of
the Pacific Ocean (I have web clients in Hong Kong and Singapore that I've
never met, even though I lived in Singapore from 94-97. And last year I
built a site for a client in Michigan - www.symepiano.com - nice guy, but
basically a stranger to me).
So it would be foolish for me to not require advance payment from these
people. If they don't pay, my resources are not adequate to go after them,
especially since the amount owed may only be a few thousand dollars. If I
get 50% up front, at least I've got something.
