ImageReady does come with a printed manual. We had taught ourselves to use
the demo before the official release of ImageReady, and had become so
dependent on it that we felt forced to turn the clocks back on our Macs so
that we could keep using the demo while we waited for the official full
version to arrive.

There was a PDF available last year when I was using the original demo, but
it wasn't very helpful. It leaned towards very basic "how-to" info which any
experienced Web developer would already have learned to do. There was little
coverage of the depths of the program. By the time the full version with the
book arrived, I found that I had already taught myself everything I needed
to know just by experimenting with the options.

If you need any tips, feel free to ask. I'm fairly comfortable with
everything but the animation features, which I haven't used yet.

The only feature I've found lacking is IR's abiltiy to make transparent GIFS
from an existing flattened file. As far as I can tell, you can only make an
item's background transparent by having it on a transparent layer. So, if
I'm dealing with a flattened file, I have to go back to Photoshop to export
a transparent GIF, an annoying extra step. If anyone knows how to do this
directly in IR, I'd appreciate learning about it.
