President Bush told a USO benefit Sunday that things began to turn around
in Iraq when the USO deployed Jessica Simpson. It's a none too subtle
hint. The president is a bit annoyed that she is dating the quarterback
when he's the King of the Cowboys."

Six years ago this week, President George W. Bush said in a speech that
only the removal of Saddam Hussein from power would end the U.S.
confrontation with Iraq. How ironic that, today, only the removal of
George W. Bush from power will end the U.S. confrontation with Iraq....

"As a recently retired Admiral, I know who has the strongest record of
supporting the men and women currently serving in our military. Senator
Obama has consistently voted to fund our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq
and, just as importantly, a proven record of support when they return
home. That's why independent veterans organizations give Senator Obama
higher marks than Senator McCain. Despite consistent distortions of his
record, thousands of veterans like myself support Senator Obama because he
has the judgment, character and integrity to be a great president. We will
need a great president to lead us in these very challenging times."

Dear Senator McCain,
When you say "I will do it. I know how to do it. I've been doing it my
whole life!" it leads me to wonder why it hasn't gotten done. I'm thinking
specifically of your assertion that you will get bin Laden, that you know
how to get bin Laden, but that you're not going to tell us about it until
we make you the President. You sound like a real ass when you say that.

"It's relevant to connect that association he has with Ayers, not so much
he as a person Ayers, but the whole situation and the truthfulness and the
judgment there that you must question if again he's not being forthright
in all of his answers. It makes you wonder about the forthrightness, the
truthfulness of the plans he's telling Americans with regards to the
economic recovery. I'm not saying that he's dishonest, but in terms of
judgment, in terms of being able to answer a question forthrightly, it has
two different parts to this. The judgment and the truthfulness and just
being able to answer very candidly a simple question about when did you
know him, how did you know him, is there still---has there been an
association continued since '02 or '05, I know I've read a couple
different stories. I think it's relevant."

. . It was dishonest, cynical men who put forward a clueless young woman
for national office, hoping to juice up the ticket, hoping she could skate
through two months of chaperoned campaigning, but the truth emerges: The
lady is talking freely about matters she has never thought about. When she
said, "One thing that Americans do at this time, also, though, is let's
commit ourselves just every day, American people, Joe Six-Pack, hockey
moms across the nation, I think we need to band together and say never
again. Never will we be exploited and taken advantage of again by those
who are managing our money and loaning us these dollars," people smelled

thereby drive the needy into the middle class, the idea that you overthrow
a dictator with a show of force and achieve democracy at no cost to
yourself--one stink bomb after another, and now Gov. Sarah Palin. ...

Inside Account of U.S. Eavesdropping on Americans
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=5987804
Despite pledges by President George W. Bush and American intelligence
officials to the contrary, hundreds of US citizens overseas have been
eavesdropped on as they called friends and family back home, according to
two former military intercept operators who worked at the giant National
Security Agency (NSA) center in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
"These were just really everyday, average, ordinary Americans who happened
to be in the Middle East, in our area of intercept and happened to be
making these phone calls on satellite phones," said Adrienne Kinne, a
31-year old US Army Reserves Arab linguist assigned to a special military
program at the NSA's Back Hall at Fort Gordon from November 2001 to 2003.
Kinne described the contents of the calls as "personal, private things
with Americans who are not in any way, shape or form associated with
anything to do with terrorism."
She said US military officers, American journalists and American aid
workers were routinely intercepted and "collected on" as they called their
offices or homes in the United States. ...
Faulk says he and others in his section of the NSA facility at Fort Gordon
routinely shared salacious or tantalizing phone calls that had been
intercepted, alerting office mates to certain time codes of "cuts" that
were available on each operator's computer.
"Hey, check this out," Faulk says he would be told, "there's good phone
sex or there's some pillow talk, pull up this call, it's really funny, go
check it out. It would be some colonel making pillow talk and we would
say, 'Wow, this was crazy'," Faulk told ABC News. ...
Asked for comment about the ABC News report and accounts of intimate and
private phone calls of military officers being passed around, a US
intelligence official said "all employees of the US government" should
expect that their telephone conversations could be monitored as part of an
effort to safeguard security and "information assurance." ...
