Why do you play Tetris again? Or, a better analogy: Why do you play
chess against your dad again after the first time you beat him? The
answer to both is because you want to *improve* your skills. You want a
better score. You don't want to just barely win.

I have done what Dave describes. I am aiming at scenario 8, but when I
pass scenario 3, I say to myself, "Wow, I have twice as many high-level
units this time!" I can see that my skill has improved. Perhaps I know
how to play the faction better this time around, or maybe I've just
gotten better at Wesnoth strategy in general. I like finding that I've
learned something, so that keeps me entertained until I get to scenario
8 again.

I recognize that not everybody enjoys the same things, which is why I
suggested being able to change the difficulty level without restarting.
(I wouldn't use this, myself.)
