If the software is not activated it will prompt you each time the console is started. You will see a dialog with activation instructions.

After the software has already been installed? or only during installation when it prompts for the key? I had already installed the software before I knew how to obtain the Product License Key, and now I can't find where to enter it.

You can enter the license key directly into the Evaluation to activate it into the full purchased version.
