I am of the opinion that ASUS still have manufacturing problems !!
Their quality control seems to be abysmal !! there seems to be no end
of issues with poor or badly soldered joints! All leading to the sort
of problems that you describe.!!
In some cases a run around with a soldering iron will solve most if not
all these problems.! However I have also seen mainboards where the
flux has caused corrosion of the copper traces, simply because of poor
washing after the soldering process.
PC Chips gained a very bad reputation for this problem. Fortunately, we
rarely hear about their mainboards now ! Maybe they have ceased to
make them. I hope so !!
