Thanks for the explanation, Marc.

However, I'm using a SWITCH, not a ROUTER and AFIK, there is no 
assignment of anything within it. And it isn't WIRELESS.

Might have to go to a router, though, since that laptop is giving me a pain.
I changed the name on it just in case that might be a problem and disabled 
the firewall, but it's still not accessable.  

I have a LinkSys DSL/Etnernet router laying around here that I used to 
use.  Don't know why I didn't use it instead of buying the switch.  Can't 
remember.  Probably can't find the CD for it anyway <smile>.
