That attitude (especially in place of any actual knowledge) is what so often irritates me about ever talking with tech support; I avoid it like the plague. Most of the Tier 1 people I've encountered can do little more than spout canned responses, such as the first one quoted above. On the rare occasion that I have to call my ISP's tech support, I always ask for Tier 2 and they never hesitate to transfer me. Things go so much easier when you can both talk the same language (tech-speak) and both actually have a clue about what you are doing. <grin>

As for the online banking issue's in Wayne's post, I guess I'm glad that my bank has a relatively long time-out period. I can't recall the last time I had a session time out, even when I've walked away for a few minutes. I think some of them go overboard with their implementation of that particular security feature.

As to IE7b, the only issue I've had was playing a game at Popcap.com, but that was more a Java problem than IE. Updating Java took care of it. Although playing Rocket Mania at Popcap for any length of time now seems to cause my system clock to advance. Twice in the week before last it had gained several minutes over just a couple of days; I haven't played at all this week and it has remained accurate. Weird. I haven't been able to track down another cause yet, at any rate.

What if the hokey-pokey really is what it's all about?
