Often when you hear this, it means that is the only software they
will provide help for. It generally doesn't mean that the other
software won't actually work. (Although, this time, that may be the
case if a non-IE browser isn't working on their banking site.)
For example, my ISP only supports OE as a mail client, but any POP
client will work. It just means that OE is the only one they will
help set up or troubleshoot. I remember calling them about an SSL
problem, and when asked what I was using, I made the mistake of
saying, "Eudora". The response was, "We don't support
Eudora." <sigh> I had to call back and make sure I didn't say
"Eudora". <LOL>
