I have no experience with USB wireless adapters, but have
tried quite a few wireless routers and PCMCIA wireless cards.
Some have a little better performance than others, but it's probably
sample-to-sample variation rather than brand/model variation.
I've had no problem with mixing different brands of wireless
hardware. The more expensive routers have more features,
but there's no point in paying for a feature you don't need.

My problem is that I don't know anything about them and the price
varies so much one tends to be concerned about the inexpensive
ones......even if it is for a home network.

You know anything about the USB wireless adapters?
