Replying to my own post !

I re-tried the 1100 cpu in the good machine !  Because I assumed that it 
was running at 1100 I never checked what the bios thought it was.......
It still shows 800 even with the second 1100 cpu.

Based on you pointing out the notes from the manual. I reset the bios 
and the good machine did exactly what it should and allowed me to 
choose 100/100.  After re-boot the bios correctly shows 1100 Mhz for 
the cpu.

Still doesn't explain why the second machine won't even post with the 
1100 cpu in it !
