Good question !   I run my screen at 1280, 1024 100Hz.  At this 
resolution I can get two A4 pages side by side.  They are at a size I 
can read comfortably.  I need to wear specs for reading and close 
work !  As far as images are concerned I tend to view them at about two 
thirds of the screen area.  Again I can put two images on the screen 
along with the tools to edit them, stich them etc.
