Grant, it's not your question that's a problem; it's a fair question.
Neither is it a problem that people have voiced complaints here. The
problem is the context. Mike has clearly stated 1) why they haven't
tried to deal with 2.4 support separate from the v3.0 release and 2)
he's clearly indicated that pricing would be determined 'soon' and
that when it was it would be posted. He's even gone on to suggest
that wild speculation served no purpose.
Possibly you weren't part of this conference when he posted all those
msgs but for some of us who have, suffer through a daily series of
whining msgs that simply ignore the statements that have been made. I
for one see people like David Peat and Mike as very useful resources
that we will lose if some of this doesn't stop.

Perhaps they should never said anything about anything. What I've
seen, and I'm sure they've seen it too, is that everytime they try to
provide any information about the future they are blasted...
repeatedly.

This is the root of the problem. You're used to version 2.1.3.4565.3
being released which is a pre-beta release of geewhizbang software.
It crashes regularly, lots of the buttons don't even work, and maybe
it's doesn't interact well with other software but then you're not
paying for it so you don't care.
If all of the open source software you find necessary was being
developed under this model, and if all the software you were using was
as great as open source folks suggest, then you wouldn't be dealing
with Netraverse at all. In short, there are reasons and places for
commercial, proprietary software to be developed for Linux. It won't
be if all it does is generate whiner nightmares for the p-nuts that
Netraverse is charging for Win4Lin.
> Please do not forget that without us, your customer, you would not exist!
While true, it's true for every product for sale. How many of them
can you get precise release schedules for? Go to Baskin-Robbins and
ask them when they're going to have Rum Raisin again. Call up
Campbells and ask them what new soups they're developing. Check with
Ford on the day you can buy the new Thunderbird in the town where you
live. What day will the next version of Windows be released? What
will its price be? What about upgrades for people who bought ME?
What about W'98 users? Virtually NO development schedule is precise
enough to make people in this conference happy, at least given the way
they talk.
Cheers --- Larry
