I don't know know, maybe it is just me, but it seems that Netraverse does
not want to release its source to the hackers. As a small company, their
"development" staff may consist of just a couple of people. If they want to
develop and maintain it themselves and generate a living from it, what is
the problem?
I also do not see where anyone was misled. Before I purchased Win4Lin, I
read everything I could about it. I asked questions. Nowhere did it say that
the current version will be modified to work with every new version of the
kernel and every distro. In fact they clearly stated what kernel version are
supported.
Again, I feel everyone is entitled to voice their opinions, but really, this
is going too far. They simply want to intoduce kernel 2.4.x support in ver
3, not ver 2. I just don't see that as being so bad. They have yet to
announce the upgrade pricing, well, it is their income that will be
affected, so I imagine a lot of thought is going into it. This will be the
first time they charge for an upgrade seeing as though it was free from ver
1 to 2.
So all we can do is wait. For what it is worth Netraverse an upgrade price
in the $29.00 to $39.00 range would be the norm in the Windows world for the
downloaded version.
