If you're trying to run some dos programs, I suggest you look at dosemu.
It comes with most distros now adays and can run msdos 3.3 or later.
I've actually run freedos on it also.  It runs very well and is much
lighter than win4lin.  It seems like a better tool to run DOS programs
than win4lin.  I'd also think that once MS Windows loses all MS-DOS
compatibility (with VM technology, which is how MSDOS is run on windows9x
and up anyway, DOS compatibility will be around for quite a while), I
think DOSEMU could be ported to windows NT-based OSs quite easily.

Fortunately I've never been adicted to Outlook Express.  Pine works fine
for me, even if it is 15 years old.  ;)
