As I pointed out a few weeks ago, chosing a DSL provider that
gives you a real DSL line is wise for many people.  Companies
like RawBandwidth.com and SpeakEasy.net give you real static IP
addresses, no silly PPPoE crap, and no restrictions on TOS or
content.

Someone asked then why services like this were "better" when they
cost about $2--30 more per month thant what PacHell
charges.  Well, this thread is yet another example of
"better."  

My recommendation would be to see if you can get out of your DSL
contract and switch to a real provider instead of a mass-market
drone provider.
