We currently have the Witango Dev Studio for OSX working with iODBC (www.iodbc.org) connecting to MySQL, PostgreSQL and MS SQL 6.5, 7 and 2000.
You can download and install it easily. The openlink drivers (commercial) can be downloaded and used with it and we have found the MS SQL driver is quite solid. An alternative if you are only wanting to use MySQL and PostgreSQL is the unixODBC (www.unixODBC.org) driver or a binary release can be purchaesd and downloaded from http://www.thekompany.com/products/macodbc/ for the enormours expense of $9.95 ;). If you do not pay for the macODBC version, there are a few tricks to get unixODBC up and running from the source as it is not specifically modified to understand the OS X environment like iODBC is, but it works fine for PostgreSQL and MyODBC (mySQL) - it is just more unix like than mac like. iODBC is already distributed as a OS X framework which is great and one of our engineers is colaborating with the unixODBC port to get unixODBC into an OS X framework. Once this happens, the Dev Studio will be able to use either and you will have a choice. In fact, the way we have redesigned the OS X Dev Studio, you should be able to use any ODBC driver that is constructed and distributed as a framework. We are currently working on an FAQ for installing iODBC and unixODBC on OSX. For those using Butler and Filemaker, MySQL is a great db that scales better than either butler or FileMaker. There are a some good utilities coming out that will give you a GUI to the db and save you from writing all the SQL statements. There are commercial ODBC drivers from both OpenLink (released) and DataDirect Technologies (still in beta). IMO Openlink is a little ahead of DataDirect in their OS X efforts and have a good understanding of the OS X environment. There Oracle drive is just about here as well. DataDirect Technologies are still in development with their darwin ODBC drivers which are due later this year, but the carbonised drivers are due for release shortly.
