Studio, Filemaker Server and Std Server. " which implies that there is work
going on for FMP.

While FMP is a great tool, it has severe scalability limits. From a desktop
app to a client server model, it can grow a bit, but that scalability isn't
available to Tango because FMP server isn't ODBC and doesn't have whatever
is necessary for Tango to talk to it, so you and I are limited to this
single-threaded thing that can be brought to its knees by two concurrent
requests. The workarounds are kludgy and expensive, running multiple
instances of FMP to get the benefit of more threads, etc.

Unless version 6 delivers what was hinted at and not delivered for version 5
(FMP server can be directly accessed by middleware), we'll all have to find
the easiest path to leave FMP behind. (that's why I'm promoting 4D as it has
most of the FMP capabilities AND is much more scalable) The program that
Jason mentioned, MacSQL, has a utility that synchronizes FMP and MySQL
databases - very cool idea - that might be a way to use the legacy FMP
applications while building forward in MySQL...
