32-bit extensions were definitely a problem with the Witango 5.5 plug-in on Leopard (10.5+, Apache2). This could be solved by converting httpd to the 32 bit version. While this also solved the issue of Apache2 starting up for Witango 5.5 under Snow Leopard (10.6+), Witango itself would not run due to an issue with the version of Apache running under Snow Leopard.
Mac OS X comes with fairly up-to-date versions of Apache, and the version for SL (which Wayne is using) is 2.2+. Normally you see errors that fairly clearly indicate the problem vis a vis Apache. The error Wayne is seeing indicates a more serious OS X problem. If he's willing to reformat AND upgrade, it will very likely fix the problem. Plus you do have to run the "Install Witango" script after installing WitangoServer itself. But the problem he was having wasn't related to that. PS, kudos to Robert for including this script; works really nicely to set up and configure Apache for Witango. ___________________ Sent from my Gen 1, Day 1 iPad 8) On Jan 30, 2011, at 3:26 AM, Christian Platt <[email protected]> wrote: > Hm, > > is this an apache 1.3 oder apache2 Installation... > > What coul crash is, if you have a 64 bit Apache and a 32-biut extension or > vice versa. > > For those interested in Mac Servers.... > http://www.activestorage.com/ > > There seems to be a solution. > > Christian > > Am 30.01.2011 um 07:42 schrieb Wayne Irvine: > >> >> On 30/01/2011, at 3:28 PM, Christian Platt wrote: >> >>> Look in the activity window wether and how many httpd processes are running. >> >> 2. httpd under users _www and root. >>> >>> Your server is running. >>> >>> http://203.24.144.42:8080/ responses... >> >> Ahh yes, that is Addressbookserver.
