Once again: What we would like to have as a baseline reference is an actual count of complex callsigns in a recent log from a Region 1 VHF+ contest that contains some hundreds of QSOs. Do you have one?

A further note
Ians log was I suspect from N W Europe, if you draw a circle of 1000kms centred
on Rome , , Italy,
that will cover the mot prolific use of complex callsigns, The Italians have
similar regulations to
those in Austria, and are in range of most of the Adriatic and Mediterranean
coast.
From those areas you could have as much as 10% of callsigns with either format of
xx/<call> or
<call>/<region.
There will also be those making contacts with contest stations that wont put an
entry in

you are missing an important point Joe
As FT8 is a quick exchange mode it will encourage more use, so what is 1% on
current figures
supplied by Ian will rise, especially on shorter period contests on 6 mtrs and
4 mtrs in the
summer where there are many Hams that spend weeks , sometimes months in second
homes in the
Mediterranean coastal areas.
Its like asking how many will be using wsjt modes before you wrote it..
IMO , I would allow for 5% of entries to have complex callsigns .

It could be a considerable amount Joe, Some countries in region 1 are small.
But what I wanted to know is what that amount actually is, in practice,
in a typical VHF+ Region 1 contest log containing some hundreds of QSOs.
