I need to update that. The info was posted in 2001. In most email clients
IMAP is downloaded to your computer so you can read off line.

Yes. A .mac/me address allows for IMAP. You can get some free IMAP accounts
like Fastmail or Gmail if your ISP doesn¹t offer IMAP.
