Yes, you're quite correct - Haiku doesn't have to strictly follow the 5-7-5 
rule to be regarded as haiku anymore.

As for the marriage haiku you presented... Shit happens. The groom obviously 
didn't handle it so well, to your good fortune ; )

      Ah, but that mold's been broken a long time, now, especially for 
translations.  There's no virtue of that formula in English, which is so 
different from Japanese.
