Joe, To reach the point of mindlessness in Kendo one has to practice using RATIONAL mind and body for years. If you just go into a fight mindlessly without all that mindFUL training you will certainly lose!
When I lived in Japan one of my friends was the master of one of the major Kendo schools in Japan. At his invitation I gave a speech to 500 of his top disciples and students at their annual national meeting on the meaning of bushido.....
