joe..the billy cart was the boy's across the road.. he was my childhood play mate from age 7 to 12..he was 3 years older..kenny built the cart himself..
have no idea why it was called billy.. no i never learnt to ride bikes of any description.. i love walking..here you have to have a car to get around. if there was public transport i would use it.. car sharing is becoming big time in sydney.. as you may or may not know i lost my left ear balance in may 2011.due to a virus... so balance for me even walking is an issue..i have my silver topped monkey magic stick i have been going through my numerous writings, poems, and drawings from the past a task for a grey "looks like rain" day i was a zen girl donkey's years ago here's a silly poem written in oct 1998 awaken from dreams night to day and the shadows fade to a brilliant warm golden light sweetness and warmth golden glow summer sun and in the darkness of my mind there is that corner much confined i wait to be released and thus to find harmony and peace summer sun summer heart summer splendour and summer fun!!! merle Merle, We called them "go-carts"! I never thought to question why. Funny, how kids are ready to adopt a name for something with no explanation. Also called them: "Soap-box racers". Now... why'd you call yours "billy carts"? (and, should Bill! feel honored?). BTW, did you learn to RIDE a two-wheeled bike, even if you might not have owned one? And, do you own a bike now? I know this post is now far off-topic regarding Zen, but I'll try to get it back ON. Merle, you know I'm concerned about the environment, and as Zen people we HAVE to be concerned, and anyway ought naturally to be. Well, I try to be "Green", you know, and I use a bicycle. Now, do you suppose I could DOUBLE my energy- efficiency if I swap the bike for a UNICYCLE? --Joe > Merle Lester <merlewiitpom@...> wrote: > > joe..i never had the opportunity to have a bicycle as a kiddy..the rage was >homemade billy carts from wooden fruit boxes..so where does that leave me? > in a canoe with out a paddle 300 miles from shore?..merle
