From: Jusan (KC)  I was always getting complaints of one kind or another. it is not easy to own/moderate a group. I finally learned to start the group under a different name and be just one of the participants, you don't
get nearly as much flack.>>

The only reason that Huggie got moderated (not kicked out) had to do with his posts regarding urinating on Roshi Kapleau's book and sending him a letter telling Kapleau that he was glad that Kapleau was terminally ill, etc. I did not even toss him out, I just thought that making several very cruel remarks about someone who was dying was too much. And it was going on for several weeks, not just once or twice. Huggie could have continued, but he chose to leave because he did not like his messages being checked for content.

Alex was just contacted personally because I felt that OTHERS were attacking him, and I felt that he was sincere and did not deserve that. He and I exchanged a few e-mails, and he seems to be a very easy person to interact with. I think that to some degree he saw the list as being antagonistic, and I think that he has changed his perception a bit.

I do on the list what I think needs to be done. I do not want the list to have hundreds of members who never participate and are indifferent. I want people here who are engaged in what they are seeking, and who are alive, have feelings, and thoughts. Perhaps I am not a very skillful person in terms of stirring things up, but I want everyone here to think, feel, use their intuition, contact their Chi, whatever it takes.

Every time the list gets near 300 people, I get an urge to shake the tree, and inevitably about 50 members leave. They are the deadwood. I am glad to see them go. They are the people who never contribute anything meaningful.

We who stay often grow stronger, smarter, calmer, healthier, wiser. We are The Best of The Best. At some point, I hope this list will have around 250 members who are leading their own Zen Groups and who are a strongly knit group of friends. Perhaps that is impossible, but I think it is already happening at some levels. This list will eventually connect real Zen Centers together, and we will all grow and give a positive good.
