Hi Al, good post. There's an old saying that for Buddhas to perfect their purity, they jump into the fire. Like your concept of street Zen to that extent, of taking on all the shit. Obviously, you can't not react. As I see it, there is no point in trying to achieve some kind of objective non-reactive mind. This kind of Zen may be satisfactory for a lump of wood, but apart from those.... Perhaps though, it would be worth investigating the mind these reactions arise within and whether this mind is bound to the reactions arising within it.
