Ian and Dkotschessa,

Thank you both for your posts. They were on point, full of good information
and written in responsible, caring manner.

When I began participating in this forum 6-months or so ago I hoped it would
fill a void in my practice by providing a sangha. These two posts are a
good example of the type of exchange and feedback I was looking for.

I've practiced zen for over 40 years. I've had the privilege of being
introduced to zen and guided through koan study by two wonderful teachers.
Both were Japanese Roshi's so my zen heritage is from the Japanese zen
Buddhist traditions. Both my original teachers are dead now. I have not
had meaningful contact with a teacher for over 10 years and have undoubtedly
developed some quirks and misconceptions which are some of the dangers of
practicing alone. I live in a country full of Buddhists [not zen
Buddhists], but I have yet to meet one, including the monks and the temple
heads, that represent Buddhism the way you two have presented, and I used to
understand and believe.

I will take what you have offered with thanks and will give all of your
postings very serious consideration.

Gassho . . . Bill!
