Thanks again Zach for a prompt response.
If common belief is that moving away from the vmware image would help my case,
I'd be happy to try.
I certainly hope there is an easy way of moving all my settings and
configuration.
Before I go into the details of how I got partial success, I'm curious to know
if anybody has any clues on why transform on the event mapping didn't work, and
my eventkeys still showed up blank.
So here's how I got partial success.
I followed Zach's excellent tips (linked above, which I'm sincerely am
grateful) and added an additional line in zenperfsnmp.py
'eventKey': 'SnmpTestKey',
which set the eventKey to SnmpTestKey (for SnmpStatus Class)
and bingo as Chet had stated (eventKey needs to match and not be blank)
I got Snmp up clearing Snmp down events.
Great
Next was to make sure
'Unable to read processes on device ...' event to be cleared by
'Process table up for device ...' event
same story, eventKey blank, I went and modified zenprocess.py and added
'eventClassKey' : 'SnmpTest',
'eventKey' : 'SnmpTestKey' }
for class zenprocess
That worked as well.
So why am I saying partial, that's because
a lot of times, I do get 'snmp agent down on device ...'
event but I don't get 'snmp agent up on device ...' event, instead I get
'Process table up for device ...' event
I don't know why this happens, but it does happen.
In fact, the machines that this happens on are heavily loaded machines, snmp
never goes down, just that zenoss probably doesn't get the right pulse to
assume that it is up.
I know that the 'Process table up for device ...' has component 'process'
instead of snmp
Is there are way to make 'Process table up for device ...' clear both
'snmp agent down on device ...' and
'Unable to read processes on device ...' events
as always, thanks for your responses.
