Thanks Zach for your response. I'm still struggling with this. Let me just wrap up everything just so it would be easy to detect if I'm doing anything wrong.
Out of box VMWare package of Zenoss. I see "snmp agent down on device ..." events These are of eventClass "/Status/Snmp" eventKey (blank) eventClassKey (blank) component snmp eventGroup (blank) agent zenperfsnmp I also get similar "snmp agent up on device ..." events which don't clear the down events. I can not find these event mapping anywhere on the GUI of zenoss, am I supposed to be able to? or are these internal? So I have now followed your i love nix notes (thank you very much) http://ilovenix.com/page.php?13.2 and have modified zenperfsnmp.py to add 'eventClassKey' : 'SnmpTest' after which my events show up with eventClassKey equal to SnmpTest (I assume part 1 mission accomplished) as per Chet above, I still had issues with eventKey being blank. Based on your suggestion, I tried to add the transform evt.eventKey = "AgentKey" Considering that I couldn't find the default event mappings for these events, to save my life I proceeded to adding two new event mappings under status/snmp/ first one: snmp_agent_down eventClassKey: SnmpTest Regex: snmp agent down on device Transform: evt.eventKey = "AgentKey" zProperties: everything default second one: snmp_agent_up eventClassKey: SnmpTest Regex: snmp agent up on device Transform: evt.eventKey = "AgentKey" zproperties: zEventClearClasses: SnmpTest zEventSeverity: clear sequence is: 0 for snmp_agent_down 1 for snmp_agent_up my events still show up with eventKey being blank where did I go wrong?
