then, I'm glad that Christ accepts me with all the shades of gray and

You are already a true Christian by my definition. You follow Christ, or try to, by following his Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley. Those who do not try to follow Jesus Christ and his Prophet are not true Christians. They may be kind, loving, generous, unselfish, etc. but they are not true Christians.
