I would agree 100% with this from a UK perspective.

There is no noticable impact on the average Briton other than the TV
news pictures and the occasional closed public park.  

The high level of petrol (gasoline) prices and government tax on same
is more of an issue and one the Conservatives opposition have failed
to exploit.  It seems likely that Labour (which despite its name and
history is currently more of a centre-right party) will be returned at
the polls in June (?).

Britain isn't a rural society and her farming industry is in long term
decline and I don't really see why it still should exist from an
economic perspective.
