        No, I'm not tied to CDRs--actually, I'd prefer tape due to capacity
considerations.  It just hadn't clicked that this is what you were
suggesting (I was thinking it would be more complicated).  If I
understand you correctly, you're suggesting letting the reinstall
disk install the system, then restore over it, right?  Sounds simple
enough, and seems like it should work.  Once I get a working tape
drive again, I'll give it a shot.
