It's probably not easy to associate them unambiguously with exac L*a*b* values, since e.g. one particular Pantone ink may show up with slightly different colors on different paper brands. And the rendering intent plays a role as well. It may be necessary to supply different L*a*b* values in the PCS for different rendering intents (e.g. relative colorimetric vs. perceptul) in order that the actually printed color will be the same.
