Hi Frederick,
First of all: why do you want to use ERT for creating a table of contents?
In the Lyx document you can break any title at any point using Strg+Enter.

Hi Sarah,
see your LyX document with some basic changes I've added.
Look at the Document Settings. If you remove linktoc=none in Document > 
Settings > PDF Properties the Contents will be in red.

There are various things that can cause this kind of problem after an 
update.


First, I'd verify that TeX is properly installed. From a terminal try:
kpsewhich article.cls
You should get a response telling you where that file is. If not, then 
your TeX installation is either missing or very broken.


If that is all right, then open LyX from a terminal. Try Tools> 
Reconfigure and see what error messages you might get. Let us know 
what you see. You should also get a file configure.log in your user 
directory containing all the output from the configuration process. 
Please post that.

you see Scott's comment - actually this should not happen.
But as an ordinary user I should like to thank you for your advice re 
checking the LaTex configuration (which packages are installed = "yes" 
or missing = "No").

If at all, how do you think will my documents be effected if reloaded 
with the new version 2.2?
I am especially referring to linguistic glosses in view of the so many 
great (but significant) improvements implemented by Jürgen Spitzmüller. 
Will I have to rewrite them?

Bibliography not shown in PDF

Hi Scott,
I think it was after downloading some updates that I did not see the 
bibliography  any longer after compilation to PDF. I am very certain I 
did not change any settings.

My many attempts to fix this failed.

openSUSE 13.2 - 64bit, latest version
LyX 2.1.2
KBibTeX 0.6-2.12 built Nov. 2015

Would it be sufficient to furnish the LyX Document Settings first or 
send minimized LyX and KBibTeX files?


I stripped down the LyX-document  from 40 to 8 pages (23.4Kib) and also 
minimized the respective KBibTeX file (1.1KB). In case you want need it, 
where should I send it?

I did reconfigure and the classes are there. So, I was not very smart in 
the first place (panicked!) yet I want to mention that in the past with

LyX server pipe /home/mb39/.lyx/ same in both KBibTeX and Lyx.

I am working on quite a number of similar lyx-documents without facing 
this problem.
The example attached is one out of five using biblatex (instead of 
bibtex) and all five worked fine for a long time.
For reasons I do not know none of those five works anymore. All in a 
sudden I have this deformation out of nowhere. All I am doing on a 
regular basis is to keep my system up to date.

So this may have to do with one recent update!?

All my other lyx-documents using bibtex compile just as ever with some 
using multiple (up to four) bibliographies.


Note: Scott Kostyshak found Bibtex Errors when compiling the attached 
mini example.


Any hint, similar experience?

Are you sure this is the biber log produced with the minimal example 
you submitted? The biber log reads

\DeclareLanguageMapping{english}{english-plain}
in the preamble, presumably from a trial with biblatex-apa.

Hi Jürgen and Scott,
lacking the relevant expert knowledge I eventually resolved my problem 
by means of obtrusive doggedness (and investing plenty of time - I am a 
retiree since years).
All I can say is that bearing in mind Jürgens BTW statement re the 
'superfluous' declaration {english}{english-plain} in combination with 
trying other settings eventually did it.

Removing that silly `-plain` just wasn't enough.
It was only after changing settings in Language and Bibliography too, 
that I got what I needed.
Now I have a great looking linguistic 40 pages document (at least to my 
and my son's gusto!).

If somebody should be interested in these proper settings, please ask.

Please send the complete LaTeX and biber logs (you can access them in LyX via
Document > LaTeX Log. The biber log is in the "BibTeX" section.

sure, it looks as if something is still set to German. However, I 
checked all settings one more time (document, global settings, preamble, 
openSuSE's interface language and installation, whatsoever) and there is 
not the faintest indication that something is set to German.
If a German setting should be hidden in / triggered by a Default setting 
than IMHO it is still illogical.
Of course, there are some German words in the document, but then there 
are also Indonesian, Greek words etc. in it.


Anyway, my brilliant idea ;-) produced what is needed and the last thing 
I want is an academic discussion of this issue.


LyX is just great and so is the list.

I just want to inform that in my case only one thing produces correct 
results and that is deactivating the global language settings. Here it 
does not matter whether or not the blue underlines are there or not.

Hi,
Starting the original document with the global language settings 
activated the word "Seite" prints in the Nomenclature. After 
deactivating the global settings the correct result "page" is returned. 
After this first and only repair the correct result "page" is returned 
even when the global settings is reactivated and this is permanent.

Anyway, this was the behavior in the 40 pages original document.

I reported this to Günter and he commented:
In any case, you found a bug in LyX. The question is, whether it only 
appears in a very specific corner case or maybe is "self healing". If 
you can reproduce the problem with a minimal example, it would be nice 
if you could post it to the list or file a bug report at bugs.lyx.org.


The minimized example is attached.
However, very much to my surprise the behavior is now slightly different 
in that one may now repeatedly toggle the global language settings ON or 
OFF and will accordingly get "Seite" or "page".


I also found the culprit right on the front page:

Beethovenstraße 15
D-04107 Leipzig, Germany
With these four lines  removed the problem is also gone. (but of course, 
they are needed)


So, what have we here and where is my mistake?

Yes. It is a bug in nomencl.sty: It does not process global language options

Maybe we need a document specific setting for this.

I think so. In general, any lyxrc setting that changes how documents are
exported to .tex is bad IMHO, since this makes documents depend on the
installation. The lyxrc setting should be replacved by a document specific
setting, and the default for this setting would then be determined by the
template for new documents.

I follow this with great interest but as a simple user can only report 
what I observed.

And there is more, may be or may not be related to this very issue:
With 'Mark foreign languages' _*always ON*_ in Tools > Preferences > 
Language settings, the foreign (secondary languages) sometimes do and 
sometimes do not show blue underlines apparently depending on the 
citation style (and/or biblatex?).


For instance I have no blue underlinings with
apa, natbib author-year, jurabib

And I do have blue underlinings with
chicago, oscola

So, 'Mark foreign languages' seems to be overruled by some other more 
dominant setting.
Again all my many documents correctly print 'page' (and NOT 'Seite') 
with "Set languages globally" deactivated.
Furthermore, it does so regardless whether the secondary language(s) is 
given before the primary language or not.

This was resolved by myself using trial and error:
I deactivated 'Set languages globally' in Tools > Preferences > Language 
Settings

I am not quite certain what you mean. But if you do not want the same 
author's name to be repeated in several subsequent entries of your 
bibliography then this is how to achieve just that.


I have openSUSE 13.2 / KDE and use Kbibtex as my bibliographical database.

The first screen-shot uses biblatex, style oscola.
The second uses biblatex, style chicago.

Are you using MS Windows?

thanks for your comments.
Among other attempts I already tried so called "unstable packages" of 
KBibTex and ended up in a disaster.

I could not even restart Leap and was forced to make a new clean install.
So, please understand that I am more than reluctant to repeat what I've 
done until a user turns up who succeeded in finding and installing a 
workable version of KBibTex.
If either of you has openSUSE Leap 42.1 installed and successfully uses 
such a workable version of KBibTex, please tell me which version it is 
and where to find it.
Fortunately, I have openSUSE 13.2 still running on a second machine and 
could revert to it when it comes to my linguistic writings.


These are the details of my openSUSE Leap 42.1 setup:
KDE, BTRFS for root, XFS for /home

Trying jabref to me would only be a second choice.

Setting prenotes inn Index lists

Hi all,
I have a document (classicthesis 4.1) with more than one index list.
The package 'idxlayout' is loaded and works well.
A prenote  can be set by using the command '\setindexprenote'.
If used in the Latex preamble all index lists will have the same prenote.
All my efforts  so far to get a different prenote in each of my index 
lists failed.

Can somebody please advice how that can be done?

I am a heavy user of LyX under Mageia5 which has all the normal TexLive 
stuff but does not provide tlmgr, TeX Live's package and configuration 
manager.
What I am facing now is this 2.9 GiB 'texlive2016-20160523.iso - Ark' 
monster in /Home/Downloads.
After reading all the documentation that came along plus some info from 
the internet I am more confused than ever and just do not know how to 
install tlmgr on my system.


Who would be so kind as to advise me (a person of blessed ignorance in 
this field) how to do that!?
I prepared a fresh install of Mageia5 on a separate HD that could be 
used without damaging my system and data.

Hi Michael,

If you want tlmgr my guess is you will have to install TeX Live
manually, using install-tl. See here:

I have a script that automates everything and makes things easy, but it
only works on Ubuntu. I think it would take a lot of work to adapt it to

'tlmgr' should be in your path now as

thanks for your advice.

'tlmgr' is indeed here '/usr/local/texlive/2016/bin/x86_64-linux/tlmgr'
however, it points to: '../../texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/tlmgr.pl'

I recall now that I tried to somehow activate 'tlmgr.pl' under the texlive2013 
installation and created a simbolic link:
'/usr/share/texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/tlmgr.pl /bin/tlmgr.pl'

Should I remove that link with: 'rm -f /bin/tlmgr.pl' ?

# which latex
returns: '/usr/bin/latex

Kindly advise how to fix all this and I am very sorry for the trouble I am 
causing!

if this is the first time to use classicthesis in Lyx then you might get 
classicthesis 4.1 first and the wait till your distributions are fit and 
complete for version 4.2 which is downwards compatible to version 4.1
AFAIK version 4.2 also depends on some latest coma-packages that are up 
to now not yet available/standard in most distributions.
Classicthesis 4.1 works well with me and cooperates flawlessly with 
bibtex as well as with biblatex.

I will switch to version 4.2 when my distro is ready and prepared for it.

I followed your above instructions,
in '.bash_profile' I changed
'PATH=/usr/local/texlive/2016/bin/x86_64-linux:$PATH'
to
'PATH=/usr/local/texlive/bin/x86_64-linux:$PATH'

After re-login I called 'tlmgr gui' as user and an active GUI popped up.
This command is reproducable.

Observations
- I cannot call tlmgr gui from a root terminal (I think that is OK)
- the installation took more than two hours compared to one hour of 
previous installations
- the file tree has grown and the subfolder '/x86_64-linux' in 
/user/local/texlive/2016/bin/ has all its files empty (0 B)


I run the installer without removing the old installation. I presume 
this is the reason for the slow speed, the blown up tree, and the 0 B files.
I furthermore reckon these empty files can be removed but will not take 
any action without receiving your advice as to what and how.


I hope my installation is now functioning as should!?

This is my (very innocent) plan:

- first install texlive2016 using 'install-tl-unx.tar.gz' from
https://www.tug.org/texlive/acquire-netinstall.html
- then install Lyx 2.2.0 from http://www.lyx/org/download

Is this the right way to do?
If so, please also advise what else needs to be observed/added/done etc.

You basically did what I was planning.
But then you also added some very interesting extras that I was not 
aware of and nobody before had mentioned.


A have one single question though re 'Preferences-PATH'.
Do you refer to the LyX Preferences Menu Tools > Preferences > Paths and 
then write into PATH prefix ?


Of course I will revert to you after the work is done. However, I might 
come up with more questions if something should go wrong ;-)

Somebody in a forum suggested that 'libxft-dev' was needed and I just 
installed it.

I have another problem.

There is more than one solution.

1.) I see, you are using bash. Sure you have a '.profile' file in your home 
directory.
Edit this file and set PATH.
2.) More complicated but valid for *all* shells.
2a.) Edit fir ~/.pam_environment
2b.) Add a line here
PATH DEFAULT=/usr/local/texlive/2016/bin/x86_64-linux:${PATH}
2c.) re-login

until you popped up on this mail list. Reading through your posts, it

you are almost a lone star.  I am also using a small Linux distro, 
MX-Linux. It is a

development from Mepis and antiX, based upon Debian stable, and run by a

Hello Gordon,
I worked with openSUSE for many years and eventually upgraded from 13.x 
to openSUSE Leap 42.1.
I got what you can call a disaster or if there was an even stronger word 
you might use that.I asked around and somebody came up with a few distro 
names and I started trying three of them. Mageia5 got the fall of the 
hammer after testing it for a week or so.
It run smoothly and after almost half a year I have nothing to complain, 
no regrets, just compliments.
It may well be that Mageia is more difficult when it comes to doings 
things like I am doing now. But then I got to know that other distros 
show similar obstacles.


And - most important - we can get great support from various lists. Look 
for instance at the persons who helped me in this texlive2016 challenge 
and never got tired of answering my (sometimes silly) questions over and 
over again.

I am deeply grateful to all of them.

Sorry, I cannot help here.


Somebody in a forum suggested that 'libxft-dev' was needed and I just
installed it.

This is a devel package, I don't see how this could help.

I would try to call 'tlmgr gui'. The possibly error messages may help to 
identify
missing perl packages.


Could I do a second installation

# ./install-tl -gui

over the first one without having to remove anything?

Why not. In a worst case you will have to remove anyway.

Cannot find libmagic. Check that the libmagic library is correctly 
installed.

Falling back to builtin file format detection.

Contradicting enough, it continues saying:
Configuration of LyX was successful.
Type 'make' to compile the program, and then 'make install' to install it.

But running 'make' also ends up with errors.

I found libmagic here:

/usr/src/php-devel/extensions//fileinfo/libmagic
with 23 files in /libmagic suffixed .c or .h

Could somebody please help with this?

installing lyx 2.2 with TL2016,GUI already in place and functioning

after fixing some - as I believe - Mageia specific shortcomings, TL2016 
full / 3263 files / GUI is installed on my system and functioning. See 
screen-shot.


Currently no Lyx version is installed and I want to install Lyx 2.2.0

I downloaded lyx-2.2.0.tar.gz and extracted it.
After reading the documentation I still have a big question left.

When using the software manager to install Lyx all needed texlive 
packages will automatically be installed too.
But how will Lyx 2.2 find/call the required TL2016 packages after it is 
installed?


Would it be the right way to simply enter

'/usr/local/texlive/2016/bin/x86_64-linux'

in Path prefix of Lyx's Preferences settings?
Kornel pointed out that this is nice but if I recall correctly he also 
mentioned a disadvantage or conflict!?


Can somebody please comment/advise what I should do and how to proceed ?

after reading your above comment last night I started RPM Search and 
found libmagic x86_64 versions which I tried to install.
And when I started *another computer* this morning Mageia's Software 
Manger offered

lib64magic-devel and php-devel, both x86_64.

Coincidence or luck or whatever it was, the installation of Lyx 2.2.0 
(as root) ran smoothly without any complaint and Lyx 2.2 showed up.

At this point I would like to thank you for helping me!

One more question though: What to do next to give LyX access to TL2016?
I have TL2016 installed and the GUI is active.
Mageia's Software manager offers eight texlive2013 packages, but non of 
it installed.


I started Lyx 2.2, created a new document (KOMA article) and exported it 
to PDF - all worked fine.
One user advised to type '/usr/local/texlive/2016/bin/x86_64-linux' in 
the PATH prefix of Lyx's Preferences - which I haven't done yet.


So, are there no further actions to be taken from my side ?

using special characters (non-greek) in glosses

Hi all,
this may be of interest to those writing linguistic papers with glosses 
and facing problems related to the subject.


I had to add the character Ø in a gloss which is found in
Insert > Special Character > Symbols > Latin-1 Supplement.

Knowing that this is cannot be done in verbatim text (and everything 
else did not work either) I inserted that character as a last desperate 
resort in normal text and then copied it into the gloss.


To my own surprise it worked.

adding module 'csquotes' in classicthesis-LyX-v4.1 produced loss of documents

after adding the module 'csquotes' and export to PDF my system started 
an infinite loop. Before I realized what was gong on the process had 
destroyed the child document involved. In another instance I even lost 
the master document.

I had received no warnings whatsoever.

Jürgen Spitzmüller provided the following cure when using Miede's 
classicthesis with an *early version* of the csquotes.module:


Open csquotes.module and look for

Preamble
\usepackage{etoolbox}
\AtEndPreamble{\usepackage{csquotes}}
EndPreamble

Then replace 'Preamble' by 'AddToPreamble'.

Save.

Hi John,
good question! Thinking that one of those characters might be the 
culprit I forgot to mention that compiling the child document alone 
_always_ works.
But after saving and including it in the master document, compiling 
_always_ enters that loop (or whatever it is).

I can reproduce this behavior as many times as I want.
So, in the layman's thinking something on the way to include the child 
in the master is going wrong. The only difference is that sometimes the 
child file is destroyed and sometimes it is not.
My master document in question has 14 child documents. Most contain 
glosses and other special things typical for linguistic theses and they 
include and compile just fine.
Funny enough, only the child with characters as shown in the screen shot 
creates the problem. A pseudo problem?
However, now it becomes clear to me that this most probably has nothing 
to do with any characters -  very same examples do work well in other 
documents (document class KOMA-Script article, without master-child 
relationship).


You seem to be on the right track as to what is causing this mysterious 
problem - I hope so very much!

I cannot interrupt the process and am forced to cut the power off.
That makes it even worse - in most cases I am left with a
spoiled file
(0 bites).
However, sometimes the file (a child document) remains intact
and if I
then remove the example the export to PDF succeeds as normal.
All characters had been typed in using the keyboard.
I want to add that none of those characters used in the
Example poses
a problem when typed in normal text or in a gloss as a single
character.


I can't tell you what's going on (aside from the fact that you've
probably found a way to make TeX recurse or loop), but I'll bet
that whoever _can_ tell you what's going on will want to see the
Lyx file that causes the problem. Attach it, maybe?

If the thing is huge or proprietary, try trimming your document
down to the one offending equation.  That'll either provide a
nice, compact Lyx file to distribute, or it won't cause the
problem in the first place which will be usefully educational.

thanks for your comment.
I already did identify the child in question. And within that child it 
is exactly the expression I sent with my first e-mail on the issue. But 
- it is definitely not *THAT* child document - the problem occurs in any 
child with that or a similar expression.
As it right now looks to me the endless loop (or whatever it is) when 
compiling is probably caused by certain double extra formatting of text, 
e.g. slanted+underbar etc.
Take this as a preliminary result. I am still in the process of 
verifying this throughout my document and once reaffirmed and for 
certain  I will revert to the list.

Hallo Michael,

Thank you, I already activated basic hyperref support, but I forgot/missed
that other option. I chose "Backlinks: Page" in the dropdown menu. Now there
are backlinks in my bibliography (which is nice), but still not in the
nomenclature. I did not have to change my preamble, it still works.

thanks for your attention and contributions.

This is the issue as reported earlier:
Text as per screenshot 'underbar.png' worked in KOMA-Script Article but 
not in a linguistic document using André Miedes Classicthesis v4.1.
More specificly: exporting the child document to PDF worked but did not 
after including the child in the master document. Starting compilation 
produced fatal results: it never ended and if the power was not 
immediately cutting off  the child and even the master got erased (0 bites).


I overcame this problem by removing the underbar as shown in screenshot 
'nounderbar' but left all the other formats untouched.
I exercised this throughout my entire document on 14 similar examples 
and now get a straight forward export to PDF.
As an ordinary user I have to shift this problem to the experts: LaTeX 
bug, LyX bug or Miede's template or what else?

I rather suspected that you were running into an interaction problem.

a) change the document class from KOMA-Script report to KOMA-Script article
b) if not yet done add the Module 'Linguistic' (in this case you will 
also have to have covington.sty in place)

I am really glad for offering help!
Very briefly, this is what 'bothers' and confuses me:
In support of my son who is studying linguistics I am working on a 
number of papers riddled with all sorts of linguistic specialties.


All the papers before were written using document class in KOMA-Script 
article and went just fine.
Then I started preparing my son's master thesis using Miede's very 
brilliant classicthesis-LyX-v4.1. I used some text parts of previous 
Koma-Script papers by copy and paste. That went fine until I was 
rewarded with latex errors - not only that, I lost that child document 
involved and when further experimenting I even lost my master document.
Eventually I was able to identify the reason behind this first issue (I 
reported all this to the list):


First issue
Underlining text with 'underbar' in the master document (e.g. _Siti)_ 
enters an endless loop when trying to compile to PDF with the fatal 
effects described above.
Funny enough it compiled (sometimes?) before in a child document but did 
not when included in the master.
And: I can stop the destruction of files only if I cut the power off 
immediately after the loop started!


Second issue
Using Jürgen's nice and useful new modules like csquotes 
(context-sensitive quotes) fail to work in classicthesis-LyX-v4.1, i. e. 
are not available in full in the Insert > Custom Insets menu and produce 
quite a number of errors
At this point I want to thank Jürgen Spitzmüller who so very generously 
and repeatedly supported my efforts (I know close to nothing about Latex).
But he flatly denies that his module(s) do not work there - stating that 
he himself used them just as I was trying.


Now there is hope these problems may have been already resolved in the a 
bug-fix version of the v4.1 template in the 4.2 bundle which you told 
me. I will download the 4.2 version and then see to it.
So far I had no reason to use version  4.2 as none of the distributions 
I am using (openSUSE v13.2; openSuse Leap 14.1, Mageia5) supports the 
scr-packages needed for it.


I run: LyX 2.1.3; KDE (everything  up to date)
and most of my documents are multilingual: German, English USA, Greek 
and lots of special symbols and characters.

I see what you mean, and I can reproduce it. I haven't observed any 
files being deleted though. It will take some time to check all this, 
please be patient. There are many packages included with classic 
thesis template and one has to go removing them one by one until 
everything works again.
Hah! This is good news towards my problem as I was just about to go back 
to KOMA-Script because in a master thesis one simply must be able to 
underline some text parts.

And, of course, I will have all the patience in the world!

I unfortunately cannot even test this as I don't see the module in my 
modules list. But again, clashes are possible, not all (versions of) 
packages work well with one another.
First, you should not bother too much about this for the time being. 
Jürgen's new features are really great (especially for linguists and 
work well in Koma-Script documents) but not a conditio sine qua non.
However, if you also plan to attend to this issue, you find the

I don't think the above issues were addressed in 4.2.  I'd rather try 
to remove (or comment out) calls to packages in 
classicthesis-config.tex and see if that helps.
You can have the command "top" running in a terminal window. Once 
pdflatex enters the loop (CPU usage 100%), just kill it with a 'k'
Yes, I agree. I downloaded and checked 4.2 and could not find any issue 
related hint.

But thanks for telling me how to kill a running process, it was new to me!

Hi Philip, Uwe,John, Liviu,
Philip, as indicated this morning this is what I experienced when 
preparing a minimal example file. But I do not know if this is helping 
or rather more confusing for your investigation.


Four of the 14 child documents in my master can have underlined text 
parts: Chapter 01, Chapter02, Chapter03 and Chapter04, but actually only 
Chapter04 contained text with underbar.


I excluded 13 children but left Chapter04 included - the one I thought 
was the culprit with some text with underbar.
To my surprise export to PDF went smoothly for both the child and the 
master.

I had 13 out of 14 children included - perfect, but useless for you.

So, I started re-including the child documents one by one, each time 
compiling in between but found no problems until I had re-included 
number 14= Chapter03, and the problem reoccurred.

I had now all 14 children included - sh...!

Next I removed Chapter03 as Include but inserted it as a LyX document.
Now I had 13 children included and one inserted as LyX document = 14 in 
total - sh... again!


In short: with more than 13 children/inserted documents the problem occurs.
In other words:
Compilation works even with Chapter04 containing underlined text as long 
as the total number is not more than 13.


I did some more experimenting like adding pieces of text with underbar 
somewhere in the master  but could not get a minimal example. What I did 
NOT try was to add some text with an underbar in one or all of the three 
other Chapters01, ..02, ..03.


All this makes absolutely no sense to me - could it be that the number 
of children and/or inserted Lyx documents matters? Could it be that 
there would be no problem if I used no child documents but instead would 
write this whole thing in one piece? At least there is an indication 
that the number of child documents used in one master may be limited.


Sorry for all this turbulence . Put all the blame on me and I will 
accept it without grumble!

would have lead to nowhere.

nicely before thanks to Jürgen's special lines in the preamble. Now they 
run into the page margin and out of the page.

And here I would not know ho to fix that.

proposition (change classicthesis-config.tex) is the better alternative?

God morning Philip,
I reset my brain early this morning and looked once more at what you 
sent me on the issue.

I did try it all but the problem remained.
Suddenly I saw it right in front of my eyes: "...makes amsmath enter an 
infinitive loop"

So, do I need amsmath in my documents? I decided NO!
Accordingly I removed the following two lines in classicthesis-config.tex

\PassOptionsToPackage{fleqn}{amsmath}
\usepackage{amsmath}

Then I checked if that had in some way effected any math 
formulas/expressions in Miede's original text and find it had not.


Then I formatted all the words as needed with 'underbar' and compiled.
There my PDF was - beautiful and precisely as anticipated!

Philip, I am very sorry for taking you on that long and winding road 
while we could have taken a shortcut.

Hi John,
thanks for your advice.
As there was basically no response from the list I eventually asked 
Jürgen Spitzmüller for help.
By analyzing the problem Jürgen found that the link to 
'.../splitindex/splitindex.pl' does not function and that there is a 
known bug in Mageia5 (my distro) which remains unsolved.
Until now he is suggesting repairs and workarounds which, unfortunately 
to this point could not cure the difficulty.

The splitindex files on my system are all there and in the right path/place.

If there is a user out there with Mageia5 (or an earlier version) I 
would encourage her/him to try a simple LyX document with multiple 
indexes and then report back on the result.

As there was basically no response from the list I eventually asked 
Jürgen Spitzmüller for help.
By analyzing the problem Jürgen found that the link to 
'.../splitindex/splitindex.pl' does not function and that there is a 
known bug in Mageia5 (my distro) which remains unsolved.
Until now he is suggesting repairs and workarounds which, unfortunately 
to this point could not cure the difficulty.

The splitindex files on my system are all there and in the right path/place.

If there is a user out there with Mageia5 (or an earlier version) I 
would encourage her/him to try a simple LyX document with multiple 
indexes and then report back on the result.

Andre Miede's classicthesis-LyX-v4.1 is the most excellent template for 
scientific theses I have come across. Its format is beautiful and the 
layout is nicely structured.
It uses the master-child concept and is thus also predestined for large 
documents.

However, you may find it a bit challenging.
It also has some special advice for use with the Spanish language.
So, if your Mexican student is a bit daring he should download it and 
have a look.

That is the expected behaviour, that is where KOMA places the 
extratitle. Just put the stuff you want as an extra title on a separat 
page. If the page shall be empty, use `\thispagestyle{empty}` or the 
LyX equivalent.

Richard, it is somebody who definitely knows what he is talking about, 
Jürgen Spitzmüller. Jürgen is the one who answered all the many very 
special questions I had in the course of writing linguistic documents 
while nobody else did/could.
I decided to address Jürgen privately after the list could not help in 
my inquiry of 28. March 18:42 termed  "where are my multiple index lists?".
Jürgen found that my mini example file worked with him and asked me to 
send the "latex protocol". I explained that my document compiles but I 
just did not see the index lists. Since I had mentioned that I received 
no warnings and no latex errors I was confused.


Hold a minute, I just receive an answer from jürgen Lange telling me to 
execute this command (Document > Latex-Protocol) after compiling my 
document to PDF.

I will do that and then revert to the list.

It is hard to guess what is "OK" and what is "not OK" for you just from
the images. Is it the width of the first column in the nomencl table?

If you could see the complete nomenclature list you would agree that it 
just looks ugly.

I see colored referenced page numbers in TOC, lists, figures, index 
lists, floats, cross references, body text etc. but that numbers in 
nomenclature remain black.
Can somebody please, tell me how to effect colored back-referenced page 
numbers too in my nomenclatures

your code does not only produce colored page numbers but even shows 
thecorrect colors for each respective document, e. g. RoyalBlue for 
classicthesis:

a) for KOMA see 'colorsKoma.png'
b) for classicthesis see 'colorsMiede.png'

a) the first column adapts its width; using dots or not in-between is of 
less relevance
b) looks great but the width of the first column appears to be fix andin 
cases overlaps  with the following text; dots are nice but should be 
preceding the text, not following it


I tried around with
\def\pagedeclaration#1{dotfill\nobreakspace#1}
but got either no color or dots in the wrong place.

Perhaps somebody could give this problem the final touch!?

I think it is a nice idea to create hyperlinks (like in Wikipedia) to

(I guess it is similar to creating a definition in LaTeX

\def\foo{Whatever}

So one can use now \foo to insert "Whatever" in the text and can

the hyperlink part to the bookmark. So it is not exactly the same.)

I have  quite a number of documents of types KOMA-script and Miede's 
classicthesis with Indexes, single and mulltiple as well. As far as I 
can see the settings are identical yet the appearence turns out to be 
different.

how to make hyperref colors to page numbers identical

Dear all,
I am writing a document using classicthesis with the following parts:

In the /Table of Contents/ and in the /Index of Linguistic Terms / - the 
referenced page numbers appear in _RoyalBlue_
In the /Index of Names/ and in the /Nomenclature/ - the referenced page 
numbers appear in _black_


All my attempts to change the black referenced page numbers to RoyalBlue 
(which is set in the Hyperreferences section of 
classicthesis-config.tex) failed as well as all the various respective 
entries I tried in the preamble.


If for instance I add to the preamble:

\usepackage{hyperref}
\hypersetup{colorlinks=true, linkcolor=blue} (or whatever other color)

the RoyalBlue will change to blue whereas the black is not effected.

Can somebody help, please!

I had earlier asked the list for help on the subject.
Mageia5, KDE, Lyx 2.1.3
There are some links in Mageia that do point to non-existent files: see 
Mageia bugs #18085 and #18088.
This is the case too for 'splitindex' which is needed to create multiple 
indexes.


Jürgen Spitzmüller told me how to solve the problem by way of creating a 
symbolic link.

Open a console as administrator and enter the following command:

ln -s /usr/share/texmf-dist/scripts/splitindex/splitindex.pl /bin/splitindex

This follows the syntax $ ln -s {/path/to/file-name} {link-name}
(You should now find: Root > /bin/splitindex)

Then make 'reconfigure' in Lyx and restart.

You can user the normal formatting practice:
Put the cursor in the ERT-box directly in front of the
footnote text and then
Insert > Formatting > Horizontal Space (choose e. g.
'interword space')
