As you've discovered...there effectively is. The OST is tied to the
profile. If you've already deleted the Outlook profile then it won't
open the OST. Even if you deleted the account from Exchange and AD as
long as the Outlook profile is still there you can still start Outlook
in offline mode
I think I agree with John on this one. If we have machines that aren't
checking in for 30 days then I want to know why. And, to be honest,
other than WSUS or perhaps our A/V console we don't necessarily have a
good way to know if they aren't checking in.

It's not a blank check to just do whatever you want and think you're
protected, that's true. But neither are seat belts and yet seat belts
are still a good idea.
I absolutely encourage residential users to install MSE - because 75% of
them won't install ANYTHING if they don't. And MSE is an

I can't speak to the Facebook connector, as I haven't seen it yet, but
the LinkedIn connector does NOT send any info to LinkedIn about mail you
send/receive. In fact what it does is download your LinkedIn contacts
list to a special Outlook Contacts folder. All of the profile

I killed a Vundo variant with ListDLLs too. Made it easy to pick out

What brand are you using? We've had almost no problems at all with
American Power Conversion over the last 20 years - other than needing to

and Chrome, but the bottom links only worked in IE.

Sort of depends upon your needs. In certain small installations we've
used NTBackup before and it's been fine. It's not the fastest or the
slickest or the sexiest but for basic backup/restore it does the job,
it's even Exchange-aware, and you can't beat the price.

But a 7-character passphrase isn't very secure by itself. I'd much
rather have something longer. Even something like:
One 2 Three 4 Five
That's pretty decent. Mixed case, with spaces and numbers. Easy to
remember and 19 characters long. Not likely to end up on a Post-It.
