Hi again:

A Laptop that is overheating will often work quite a while on light
jobs or when it is idle. The first sign of a problem is usually when
you give it long jobs to do, such as a defrag. or a long virus scan,
or reinstalling a long program and is one reason for shutdowns when
reinstalling the OS. I've had 4 laptops and some do not have much
tolerance for dusty interiors. Desktops not so completely crowded
and have bigger fans. Shutdown usually occur with a light clunking
sound and a blank screen.
