Our policies are made effective from the date of approval.

Greetings from frigid central Iowa,

From poking around the web, it appears that in most cases universities implement policies as soon after their final approval as they can be published. Our University Counsel is asking if other universities have a different approach, such as implementing a new/revised policy only on the first day of a new fiscal year, etc.

When do your policies become effective?
Do you treat certain types of policies differently than others?
In particular, are you consistent about when you adopt personnel policies to avoid the appearance of retaliation?

Your comments would be most appreciated!
Sheryl
