We have generally shied away from the approach of having an attestation signed
because it leaves open the question of: "What if someone doesn't sign it?" We
would not want to give them any ammunition to argue that they were not trained
on it, aware of it, or that they fell outside of it for some reason. The value
of the attestation, if there is any, seems to be outweighed by this potential,
even as slight as it may be.

Jennifer,

Cornell does not require employees to complete an attestation on this
particular policy, although our Campus code is widely distributed and
publicized.

Subject: [acupa-l] Code of Conduct Question

Good morning ACUPA members,

I am doing a review of our institution's Code of Conduct and was wondering if
your institutions require employees to attest to or acknowledge the
institution's Code of Conduct. If yes, how often is it required (one time or
recurring) and how is it obtained (manual or electronic database platform)?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
