I didn't have any problem installing the boots or plugging or unplugging
a cable with the boot installed.
The AF5XHD is good for the money. I can't complain. The only thing I'd
be ware of is you really want a super hot CINR to hit the high data
rates that they advertise.
We just used an AF5XHD with 34dbi dishes to replace an ePMP with their
25dbi dishes. On the exact same channel the ePMP was on, the AF5XHD
didn't actually give us better throughput. We did end up getting more
than double the speed after shuffling channels around to reduce
interference. It's unfortunately still only getting 64QAM (4x) in one
direction due to interference, but it's 1024QAM (10x) in the other
direction.

Who said that? It's the exact same problem, it's so damn loose. Yes,
you still have to force that cable up there for it to work.
They did include a rubber IP67 boot. If you put this inside and try
to put a cat5/rj45 in there you'll destroy the female jack of the
radio. I would guess if you slid the rubber thing over the cat5,
plugged it in, and kept that boot in there it would help it from
coming down at all but the trade there is a new tech will destroy the
radio more often than what the boot would help...

Josh,
I thought they fixed the Ethernet jack on the AF5XHD? That is what
UBNT is telling me they said they found a problem vendor. Are you
still having issues where you have to push the RJ45 up into the AF
to get the ethernet link to come back?

AF5Xhd is pretty sweet. I'm happier radio wise than the
AF5X. It's still a shit ethernet jack.
As to ptmp, the snmp seems to be built with that in mind. As
to when it'll come, all I can say is I've heard questions with
no answer.

We have been using the AF5XHD as well. I'm happy with it
as a PTP platform, but in a lot of our areas we are
running 2 foot dishes for even the shorter hops to achieve
the SNR for 1024QAM. It's kicking ass though, and these
links probably should have been bigger dishes to begin
with so it is what it is.
Highlights are mostly that now 256Q(8x) has a effective
output power of 21db-22db, compared to the 18db on a good
day of the original 5X. I think 1024Q (10x) is now more
like 18db-19db now which is a huge improvement compared to
the original 5X. It has helped quite a few of the links we
have replaced.

Has anyone heard any update on when the PTMP

It seems like the fodder / vaporware cycle on
this has been running long then normal
